2025 Sundance Film Festival: Local Lens Artist Roundtable

About the Event

The Artist Roundtable, presented in collaboration with Spy Hop, will convene artists with Sundance Film Festival programmers for a creative exchange around artistic process. Panel participants will reflect on their creative journey, exploring the emotional, technical, and philosophical opportunities and challenges of bringing a project to life. In addition to the roundtable, there will be a Q&A with Eugene Hernandez (Director, Sundance Film Festival and Public Programming) and Basil Tsiokos (Senior Programmer, Sundance Film Festival), followed by casual networking with attendees.


This event is open to the general public and geared towards filmmakers and other artists at all levels of experience.

 

About the Film

Visionary musician and artist Brian Eno — known for producing David Bowie, U2, Talking Heads, among many others; pioneering the genre of ambient music; and releasing over 40 solo and collaboration albums — reveals his creative processes in this groundbreaking generative documentary: a film that’s different every time it’s shown

 

Meet the Artist

A writer, director, actor, and drag performer, Amrou Al-Kadhi has written for Apple’s Little America and BBC America’s The Watch. They have written and directed four shorts centering queer people of color. Their solo drag show, Glamrou, has toured internationally, and they acted in the recent season of American Horror Stories. Their debut book with HarperCollins, Unicorn, won the Somerset Maugham Award.

Speakers and Panelists

Eugene Hernandez (moderating)

Eugene Hernandez is the Director of the Sundance Film Festival and head of public programming. He is responsible for guiding and overseeing the Festival’s overall vision and strategy while collaborating with the programming and leadership team to further the inspiring artistic impact of the Sundance Film Festival. He also leads the Institute’s year-round public programming globally, championing the social and cultural role of artists while developing programs to foster dialogue and community with Sundance-supported work at the center.

Isabel Castro - Selena y Los Dinos

Isabel Castro is a five-time Emmy-nominated, award-winning filmmaker. Her work includes the debut feature Mija (2022 Sundance Film Festival), Darlin (2019 Tribeca Festival), and USA vs. Scott (2018 Tribeca Festival). She was one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Film 2021 and nominated for a 2023 Independent Spirit Award.

Cherien Dabis - All That’s Left of You (اللي باقي منك)

Cherien Dabis is a trailblazing writer-director and actress. Her debut,  Amreeka (2009 Sundance Film Festival, 2009 Cannes Film Festival FIPRESCI Prize), and May in the Summer (2013 Sundance Film Festival) earned critical acclaim. In 2022, she became the first Palestinian Emmy nominee for Hulu‘s Only Murders in the Building.

Cole Webley - Omaha

Raised alongside five brothers in rural Washington, Cole Webley spent his childhood watching movies and attending wrestling tournaments. None of his three daughters or son wrestle, but they share his love for movies. After film school, seven short films, and a hundred-plus commercials later, Omaha is Webley’s feature directorial debut.

Jessica Hargrave - Come See Me in the Good Light

Jessica Hargrave is the producer of Come See Me in the Good Light (Apple TV+), winner of the Festival Favorite Award at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Previously, she produced Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter (Netflix), Pamela, a love story (Netflix), Good Night Oppy (Amazon),  Ask Dr. Ruth (Hulu), and The Keepers (Netflix), among others. She is a mentor with #Startwith8Hollywood and WIF.

Kim A. Snyder - The Librarians

Kim A. Snyder is an Academy Award® nominated, Peabody Award-winning Director-Producer whose latest feature, The Librarians, premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Her recent short documentary Death By Numbers, was nominated for an Oscar in 2025. Snyder’s acclaimed films include Us Kids (2020 Sundance Film Festival), Lessons From a School Shooting (Netflix), and Newtown (2016 Sundance Film Festival, Peabody, PBS). Earlier work includes Welcome to Shelbyville (PBS) and I Remember Me (Zeitgeist Films).

- Parking is available on 900 South (2-hour limit) and surrounding streets. Please be mindful of residential parking restrictions to avoid any tickets or issues.
